Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' Won't Be in 3-D

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I will not be given the 3-D treatment, bucking the trend of action-packed blockbusters cashing in on the multi-dimensional craze.

Warner Bros. announced on Friday that when the first half of the final installment in the Harry Potter franchise is released on November 19, it will hit theaters and IMAX in standard 2-D, not 3-D.

"We will not have a completed 3D version of the film within our release date window," the studio said in a statement. "Despite everyone’s best efforts, we were unable to convert the film in its entirety and meet the highest standards of quality. We do not want to disappoint fans who have long-anticipated the conclusion of this extraordinary journey."

However, Harry Potter fans disappointed by the lack of 3-D wizardry in the first half of the finale should keep their chins up. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II, which hits theaters and IMAX on July 15, 2011, will be available in 2-D and 3-D.

Google TV's first set-top box

Google TV’s set-top box from Logitech is now available for preorder, and if you want to fork over $299, it looks pretty nice! Nicer than just connecting your computer to your television? Well…not quite. But still! Nice!

Logitech’s Revue Google TV box comes with a full QWERTY keyboard, but you can also control it with your iPhone or Android smartphone. (Fun.) Ultimately, though, the hardware matters less than the software: Is Google TV compelling enough, versus, say, Apple TV ($99) or Boxee’s upcoming set-top box ($199), to make the added expense worth it? I’m not convinced yet. For $299, buy an Xbox and watch Netflix through that. I hear you can also play games on it.

Dora The Explorer Voice Sues Nick

Caitlin Sanchez, who has provided the voice for the cartoon's plucky bilingual title character since 2007, has sued Nickelodeon for breach of contract, claiming she is owed millions for residuals, merchandise tie-ins and other related work.

Now that's what we call getting schooled.

"Caitlin and her family hoped to resolve their concerns short of filing any complaint, but were unfortunately forced to sue when they believed that Nickelodeon was not engaged in good faith discussions," says her attorney, John Balestriere.

The lawsuit alleges that Nickelodeon purposely misrepresented itself during initial contract talks with Sanchez, 14, and her family in order to get them to agree to the network's "unconscionable" terms.

Max Weinberg Won't Join 'Conan' Because Of Heart Surgery

Conan O’Brien’s long-time band leader Max Weinberg says the reason he won’t take place in the new TBS show “Conan” is because a “massively invasive open-heart surgery.”

Weinberg told FanCast that the surgery took place just weeks after O’Brien’s gig as the host of “The Tonight Show” wrapped.

“On Feb. 8, I came to the end of a 26-year watchful, waiting odyssey that culminated in 12 hours of massively invasive open-heart surgery.”

Weinberg learned that the condition was “life-threatening” just two years ago, and decided to go for the surgery after “The Tonight Show” was canceled.

Weinberg said he won’t return to en “episodic show” again, especially on a different coast from his family, who live on the east coast.

“I did my time. I loved it. It was great. Frankly, I do prefer living in New Jersey and that was one of the problems I had.”

For now, Weinberg has returned to his roots touring with Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band.

“I’m playing better than I ever did. I’m not looking backward. I feel wonderful about where I’m at- physically, personally, professionally.”

Still, Weinberg says he wishes Conan nothing but the best.

"I hope they do wonderfully well. I'm sure they will. I put a lot of time and effort into creating our little world over there, you know, with the band and the musical direction and what the band contributed, and I trust and I hope that the band retains the profile they had.”
